Carolyn is a member of National Honor Society and PMHS 2013 Homecoming Queen. Last year she was the junior class Homecoming representative and usher for the 2013 graduating class. She was a member of the PMHS Color Guard for three years and is highly spirited when it comes to PMHS!
Carolyn is an active member of the Rockbridge Ballet and takes ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance classes. In addition, she has been an assistant teacher for tap classes. The Ballet’s Director, Ms. Jessica Martin, states, “Carolyn is a hardworking and talented dancer who inspires the younger students. She leads by example and takes pride in all she does.” Through her dance, Carolyn learned signing commands in order to communicate with deaf children. Last year, she performed at the School of the Deaf and Blind. This year she is currently teaching dance therapy at Kendal Retirement Community.
Carolyn is an active member of St.Patrick’s Catholic Church. She has served for over six years as an Altar Server at weekly Mass.
Carolyn has held a part-time job at Wendy’s for over a year and continues to earn high ratings as a customer service employee at the restaurant. During her senior year, she is completing a mentorship at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Carolyn will graduate with 9 college credits and hopes to pursue a degree in Nursing in the fall.
According to her English teacher, Chris Floyd, it is this willingness to help others that led to Carolyn’s selection as Senior of the Month. “She doesn’t even have to be asked,” he said. “She just jumps right in there. She has offered her help to more than one struggling student in my class, and she does so willingly.”
