Ali Patton Armstrong has been voted Parry McCluer High School’s Senior of the Month for March 2014. She is the daughter of Laurie and John Armstrong of Buena Vista. Teachers describe Ali as a very responsible young lady with a great work ethic. She is a member of National Honor Society and Interact club. Ali has consistently volunteered to help with 8th Grade Transition activities and served as a mentor/guide. Organizers of the program describe Ali as a wonderful role model for new students. Ali has also been a member of the PMHS Relay for Life team in past years. Last Spring, Ali was voted by her teachers to attend VA Girls State, which she attended last summer. A natural born leader who is quiet and unassuming, Ali said it was a great experience!
In addition to academic excellence, Ali’s discipline and hard work have been reflected in her athletic achievements. She has been a member of the PMHS cross country and track team for four years and represented PMHS at the State meets her 9th, 10th and 12th grade years.
Ali serves as an acolyte at Christ Episcopal Church in Buena Vista. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cycling, camping and being outdoors. She also likes to attend outdoor music festivals. During her senior year, Ali participated in the mentorship program where she fulfilled her requirements by mentoring at “Smiles on Magnolia.” In the fall, Ali plans to attend Virginia Western Community College and pursue a degree in dental hygiene.
