Michaela Humphrey has been chosen PMHS’s Senior of the Month for February 2015.  She is the daughter of William and Jennifer Humphrey of Buena Vista.

Michaela has been a member of National Honor Society for two years and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.77. She is ranked ninth in her class and has maintained this average while taking rigorous college courses her junior and senior years.  She received an Academic Jacket at the All Stars ceremony.  Michaela says she has enjoyed Biology. Her Biology teacher, Ms. Clemmer, states, “Michaela is an outstanding student and young lady who always gives 100%.  She is a pleasure to have in class because she does what is asked of her and then does more!  Michaela was a bright spot in my day!”

Michaela volunteers at Hoofbeats, a therapeutic riding center. She enjoys helping the disabled children and working with the horses. Michaela would like to continue to help children in this capacity throughout her life. The director of Hoof Beats said, “I have invested a lot of time and effort in this kid!  Thankfully, it has paid off!  We consider her as staff here with the lesson program, the stable management, the horse handling, and with special events. She has a lot of responsibility here and we will miss her when she goes on to college!  Good luck, Michaela!”

Although Michaela has been accepted at several Virginia colleges and universities, she has not confirmed which school she will attend.  She wants to major in Biology and attend graduate school. Her goal is to become a large animal Veterinarian.
