Carmel Hardy has been selected as PMHS’s Senior of the Month for January 2015. She is the daughter Kenneth and Stephanie Hardy of Buena Vista. She is the youngest of seven children and enjoys taking care of her nieces and nephews. Carmel demonstrates many of the qualities that are appreciated by PMHS faculty and students. AP Literature teacher, Mr. Floyd, states, “Carmel is very bright, hard-working and does whatever is asked of her in class.”
Carmel has excellent attendance and grades. She is able to maintain a 3.6 GPA while taking rigorous college courses her junior and senior years. She received an Academic Jacket at the All Stars ceremony. Carmel has been a member of National Honor Society for two years. She is currently serving as NHS Secretary and Senior Class Secretary.
Carmel is also involved in many extra-curricular activities. She has been a member of the Volleyball team for three years, the varsity soccer team for four years and served as captain her junior year. She is also involved in activities associated with Chorus, SIRPHA and Interact Club.
Carmel is equally involved in the community. She is a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, belongs to the Young Women’s organization and has served as one of the officers.
Carmel has been accepted at Pacific University in Oregon. She wants to major in Elementary Education and has always wanted to be a teacher. Carmel is uncertain if she will go on a Mission after high school at this time.
