BUENA VISTA, Va. — All four schools in Buena Vista City Public Schools (BVCPS) have earned a “Distinguished” rating, the highest designation a school can achieve under the Virginia Department of Education’s accountability system. VDOE released the ratings today for the 2026–2027 school year, based on student performance during the 2025–2026 school year.
The schools receiving this recognition are Parry McCluer High School, Parry McCluer Middle School, Enderly Heights Elementary School, and F. W. Kling, Jr. Elementary School.
“Having every school in our division earn the highest designation in Virginia is an incredible accomplishment,” said Superintendent Dr. Heather Ault. “These results reflect the hard work and support of our entire community. We are so proud of our students, grateful for our families, and fortunate to have a staff deeply committed to helping every child succeed.”
The ratings build on the division’s efforts during the first year of Virginia’s new accountability system. Last year, based on data from the 2024–2025 school year, Parry McCluer High School and Parry McCluer Middle School were rated On Track, while Enderly Heights and Kling Elementary Schools were rated Off Track. This year, all four schools have earned the top rating of Distinguished.
BVCPS credits this achievement to strong instruction, thoughtful planning, additional support for students, and close partnerships between families and school staff. Students’ effort and determination, families’ encouragement and support, and the daily contributions of staff throughout the division helped every school reach this milestone.
“Every staff member has a part in this celebration,” Ault said. “Their dedication, skill, and care for our students, together with the support of our families, made this achievement possible. Having all four schools earn Virginia’s highest rating is an extraordinary accomplishment that we are excited to celebrate.”
BVCPS congratulates its students, staff, and families on this outstanding achievement and thanks the Buena Vista community for its continued support.
