Dr. Heather Ault
Dr. Ault began serving as Superintendent of Buena Vista City Public Schools on July 1, 2025. She brings over 20 years of experience in public education, with an extensive background in small school divisions. Prior to her appointment, she served at the central office level for four and a half years in Amelia County Public Schools, where she held roles as Director of Instruction and Director of Human Resources. Additionally, she possesses six years of experience as both an elementary and middle school principal. As a middle school principal, she led the school from a status of potential accreditation denial to achieving full accreditation. In her role as an elementary school principal, she played an active role in facilitating the deconstruction of an existing elementary school and the construction of a new one.
Her diverse educational background includes experience as a primary school assistant principal, an elementary classroom teacher, a high school athletic coach, and an adjunct professor. Dr. Ault holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education, a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Regent University, and an Educational Doctorate from the College of William & Mary, specializing in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum Leadership.
Dr. Ault and her husband, a lifelong educator and current high school administrator, reside in Buena Vista and enjoy being active members of the community.
