Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of one of our beloved students, Lucas Smith. This loss has deeply saddened our school community, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Lucas was not just a student;  he was a cherished member of our school family. His presence brought joy, laughter, and kindness to those around him, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He had a unique way of touching the lives of everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered fondly by classmates, teachers, and staff alike.

During this time of grief, it is important for us to come together as a community to support one another. We encourage students and staff to lean on each other for comfort and strength as we navigate through this loss together. Our school counselors and support staff are available to provide assistance and resources to anyone in need of support.

Let us remember Lucas for the light he brought into our lives and the positive impact he had on our school. May his spirit live on in our memories and may we find solace in the cherished moments we shared with him.

Superintendent´s Message

It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Superintendent of Buena Vista City Public Schools. I look forward continuing to work with the parents, guardians, students, staff, and community members of this proud city.

As we begin a new school year I am excited that we can focus on what matters the most,  which is our students and families. While we have faced many challenges during the past few years, our staff has stayed the course and committed themselves to our students. Education continues to change butour first priority is providing a sound education for our students.

Our theme for the year is “Be the one, be a Blue”. This theme focuses on being present for our students, families, and each other which is the essence of “being a Blue”. I look forward to a great year and hope to see you at one of our schools.

“Go Blue!”

Tony Francis, Ed.D.
